SUMMARY

1984 BMW 733i

The exterior was inspected for cosmetic issues and functionality. No signs of any minor or major collisions or fender benders were noted. There are minor miscellaneous scratches around the vehicle, which is normal for the mileage, and most are too small to see in photos. The paint shows some wear and tear consistent with age and mileage. The underside has been undercoated, which can hide rust. The hood has some paint wear. There are indications that some of the work performed was unnecessary as some of the reported problems were still present. The glass is free of obvious damage. Both the headlights and tail lights are clear and free of any obvious cracks or other damage.

During the interior inspection, the steering wheel shows some wear and tear as seen in pictures, which is normal for the mileage. There is light wear to the seats, also normal for mileage. The clock is unable to operate as a separate head unit for the radio was installed. None of the windows were operational during my visit. The dash shows cracks due to age and mileage. The only light illuminated with the key on and the engine off was the battery light. The dash lights are not working. The fan motor was unable to operate as the switch was frozen. The fan motor is not functioning. There is separation in the sunroof interior cover. The sunroof was in full operation. The blower motor could not operate as it was frozen in the off position. None of the dash gauges are functioning. The only illuminated indicator with the ignition on and the engine off was the battery icon. The power mirrors and power seats worked with no issues. OBD2 was not possible as the BMW, even in its production year, required a BMW-specific adapter to accommodate my scanner.

The engine bay and undercarriage components were visually inspected to check for any indications of leakage, deterioration, and fluid conditions. Accessible fluids were at their proper levels and displayed a healthy color. I had to jump-start the vehicle during my visit. The exhaust shows some surface rust, but currently, there are no leaks, and it sounds good. There were no visible signs of leaks or seepages underneath.

A test drive was carried out. There were no abnormal sounds coming from the steering or suspension systems. However, there is a surface engine oil odor detected, requiring further diagnosis. An engine misfire was observed, necessitating further diagnosis. The steering wheel is off-center when driving straight down the highway, indicating the need for an alignment to correct this issue. There were no signs of severe steering and suspension issues.

The tires were checked for tread depth and any unusual wear patterns. All four tires are from the same brand and have an adequate amount of remaining tread depth.
