2015 24SR Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Class C

The pre-purchase inspection of this RV begins with the exterior. After a moderate search, I found few noteworthy problems with this RV. Overall, its condition is good. The paint, clear coat, side graphics, and decals all look very well maintained. The function and performance of the two slide outs, awning, exterior lighting, and compartment locks and hatches are all fine. However, the washer lines are not connected to the wiper arms, and there's a misalignment between the right front bumper and the body fender. Additionally, there are a couple of minor scratches on the passenger side, and the rear bumper shows some scratches and cracking in the bumper material. Two small dings are present on the hood. The tires, hug-a-lugs, and rim simulators are in good shape, although the rim simulator is missing on the R/R. Finally, there are some cracks in the caulking on the rear roof.

Now moving on to the interior. All the furnishings are in good condition. There is some normal wear on the driver’s captain chair. Every standard and optional onboard amenity on this RV functioned as designed, from the diesel generator to shore power. The gas cook-top and refrigerator also functioned properly. I found no noticeable wear and tear anywhere except for a small stain on the mattress and some marking or staining on the shelf under the kitchen sink.

Moving on to the engine bay, which houses the Mercedes-Benz 3.0 V6 diesel. The engine oil was clean and at the proper level, and I found no leaks of engine or transmission fluid. The undercarriage appeared clean overall. However, there is evidence of slight rodent damage at the cabin air intake box. The exhaust shows some minor surface rust, but currently has no leaks and sounds good. It's worth noting that only one key fob was shown during the inspection.

Finally, the road test which was performed by the seller as I sat in the passenger seat. The engine started right up with no evidence of smoke from either the tail pipe or engine compartment. The engine acceleration was smooth and strong. The braking performance is smooth and firm. Cruising speeds were approximately 45 MPH on the Almaden Expressway. It is noteworthy to mention that this RV delivered a quiet ride compared to others that I have inspected with very little interior vibration and rattling. The cruise control functioned well. The steering tracked straight and did not drift. The braking performance was firm with no evidence of braking pedal pulsation. The cruise control functions well.
