This a very original and well documented Cougar. It was a pleasure to meet the original owners and hear their story. This is not a show car but is an excellent driving old classic. There are paint and body issues that would probably need to be addressed. The worst issues are the following. Rust through in the lower outer door corners. This is due to poor draining over the years. The lower rockers and lower rear quarter panels also have some rust through. I did not see any major floor rust through but definite surface rust all over. Also there are numerous small to medium dents that remain. It does have a new vinyl top that I hope was prepped properly before installation. The company who performed all of the work while in the Birmingham area is known to be one of the most expensive in the area. The engine started, sounded and performed well. It has a new Edelbrock carburetor, voltage regulator and starter solenoid. As well as newer tires. The A/C, heater and horn does not work. The heater core was bypassed. The horn wire is shorted in the column. There is a new horn wire in the trunk. The interior is original and could be used as is or renewed. The Cougar drove very smoothly with no unusual noises or vibrations. It seemed to drive straight and follow the road without wandering. Brakes are manual but did not seem to take excessive effort. They did not make any noise while driving on the road. The transmission shifted smoothly and firmly under hard acceleration. You could drive this Cougar as is easily or restore to any level.
